Light Your Furnace
How to Light Your Furnace for the Winter
Generally, a light furnace is an enclosed structure in which material can be heated but in regard to this context we can describe it as an instrument through which people can use to keep warm by lighting it either by oil, gas or wood especially during the winter season to keep warm.
It is important to note that there is a process required to light a furnace for the winter and it is carefully catered for below by explaining the steps taken in arriving to lighting a furnace.
To begin with, check your filter, ensure that it is clean. If not, change the filters for this is an important aspect. The filter should be free of dust. If you are not certain whether it is clean or not, take up a flash light and shine it through the back of the filter and if it happens that you are not able to see the light from the flashlight, then you are required to change the filter immediately if you want the furnace to run smoothly.
After this has been done, carefully check the burners to ensure that they are free of debris or any rust flakes that may have built over in time. If there are, slowly scrub them off using a clean cloth. This also enables the furnace to run smoothly as dirt can be described as the main ‘enemy’ as to the smooth and efficient running of the furnace so ensure that the filter and the burners are free of any type of dirt or rust.
The next step is to lubricate the light furnace blower. This enables it to run without making any grinding noises while it’s up and running and also to prevent the formation of any kind of rust that may tend to arise due to one reason or the other.
It is then advisable to inspect all heating vents to ensure that there are no obstructions that would lead to the heat being generated being blocked in any way. Also, it is advisable to seal the house to ensure that you don’t lose a significant amount of heat once the furnace is up and running.
For optimum conditions and working of the furnace it may also be a good idea to keep the place humid because the air tends to be dry which will complement the heating up of the furnace once it’s been lit.
Once these steps have been followed, one can now turn on the thermostat or rather turn on the furnace and heat up the place. These steps form a crucial part in the lighting up of a furnace during the winter season in any area or part of the world.
